Testing information
Lipoprotein A (LP (a)) is a subclass of human blood lipoproteins. It is a risk factor for coronary heart disease and other cardiovascular diseases. The lipoprotein A particle is similar in structure and lipid composition to LDL. It also contains apoB-100, but unlike LDL, apoB-100 is associated with an additional protein - apolipoprotein (a), which is hydrophilic and highly glycated.
The content of LDL (a) in the blood is highly variable and is determined mainly by heredity. Therefore, factors such as diet and physical activity have no influence on its concentration in the blood.
