About research
A general examination of the thyroid gland is a complex of laboratory studies that allow to initially evaluate the disorders of thyroid hormone level and some blood parameters on which these hormones have the greatest influence.
The aim of the study
Thyroid hormones are responsible for the intensity of the body's energy processes - that is, metabolic processes. Their violation can lead to a variety of symptoms, often non-specific. It may take a long time to get to the root cause. That’s why the general knowledge of the thyroid gland functioning and the symptoms of its disorders are so important. This allows to do all the examinations in time and detect the abnormalities for more effective treatment.
Thyroid hormones increase the rate of energy compounds breakdown that come with food. If they are not supplied in sufficient quantity, then the body's energy reserves are used up - first they are stored in adipose tissue, then the muscles are also broken down. Therefore, both hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism are undesirable diseases, both of which can lead to serious health damage.
The two main groups of thyroid diseases are hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism. The occurrence of these diseases can be caused by various factors, both environmental and genetic.
